Symfony development that lasts.

Scalable web platforms, clean architecture and legacy modernisation — from a senior engineer who has shipped Symfony in production since 2013 and builds the systems he advises on.

  • Symfony 6 & 7
  • PHP 8.4
  • API Platform
  • Doctrine
  • PHPUnit
  • Docker
  • CI/CD

What I build

From back-end to platform.

Custom software instead of a template kit: applications that map your exact process — and are still maintainable in five years.

01

Web platforms

Business-critical applications with Symfony: customer portals, booking and management systems, multi-tenant SaaS products — from architecture to go-live.

  • Symfony
  • Twig
  • Doctrine ORM
02

API back-ends

REST and GraphQL interfaces with API Platform, cleanly versioned and documented. The stable back-end for your apps, shops and partner integrations.

  • API Platform
  • REST
  • OpenAPI
03

Legacy modernisation

From a grown monolith to a maintainable Symfony application — step by step, without a big bang and without stopping operations.

  • Refactoring
  • Strangler-fig
  • Test coverage
04

Quality & operations

Automated tests, static analysis and CI/CD pipelines. Dockerised environments that run identically locally and in production.

  • PHPUnit
  • PHPStan
  • GitHub Actions

Why Symfony — and why with me.

Symfony is the framework for long-lived business software in the PHP ecosystem: a stable release model, a well-thought-out component system and an ecosystem (Doctrine, API Platform, Messenger) that is still maintained years later. That is exactly why enterprises rely on it — and exactly where I have seen it in action.

At ALDI Nord I led the migration of a grown monolith to Symfony 6.4 — dockerised, with CI/CD and test coverage. For REWE and arvato Bertelsmann I built back-ends and REST APIs in enterprise environments. That experience goes into every project: I know where grown PHP systems break — and how to fix them without risking operations.

The difference from a classic agency: you always talk to the person who actually builds your system. No sales layer, no handover to juniors. For larger projects I scale with a well-rehearsed, distributed team.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Symfony project cost?
It depends on scope. I work project-based or at a transparent day rate and give a solid estimate with clearly scoped iterations before we start. An initial call is free.
Do you take over existing projects?
Yes. A large part of my work is taking over and modernising existing PHP and Symfony applications — including onboarding into unfamiliar code, building test coverage and incremental refactoring.
Do you migrate from Symfony 4/5 to 6/7?
Yes. Version upgrades and replacing outdated bundles are core work. I proceed step by step, secure each step with tests and keep the application running throughout.
Do you work remotely?
Yes, location-independently. My bases are Wuppertal (Germany) and Ras Al Khaimah (UAE); collaboration runs remote with regular, clearly scheduled check-ins.
